I listened to some of the argument for and against. Illegal harvesting would not be an issue, as the paid donor would have to walk into the hospital where the transplant would take place. The donor would have consent forms filled out, and tests would either be done or would be done to insure the donor physically able to withstand the surgery and has a healthy kidney. Credit card companies would not require a sale of a kidney any more than they require you to sell inanimate objects now. Yes, the poor would more than likely be the recipients of money for sale of their organs, only after they had been educated as to quality of life, recovery time etc-by a certified nurse or surgeon. There would be family background checks, medical checks etc performed before any offer of payment would be made-and probably a large amount of potential donors for money would be turned away. The advantages would be beneficial to both parties, and those offering donations after death, could use the proceeds to pay the exhorbitant funeral costs and pay back any debt the deceased left behind.
